Shane Mass, DMSc, PA-C is the Founder & CEO of Alderon Medical and a physician associate whose clinical background spans emergency medicine, trauma care, and critical-care environments. He is building Alderon around the belief that better access to primary care can create more opportunities for prevention, continuity, and a clearer path through the healthcare system.

Why Alderon
Shane Mass is building Alderon around what healthcare often loses between encounters.
Frontline medicine repeatedly shows what happens when prevention is delayed, medications become disconnected, chronic conditions go unmonitored, or patients have no clear place to return after an emergency or hospital encounter.
Prevention before deterioration
Many serious medical problems have risk factors that develop quietly for years. Primary care creates an opportunity to identify those risks earlier and act before the consequences become harder to reverse.
Continuity after acute care
Emergency departments and hospitals are designed to stabilize urgent problems. Patients still need a reliable clinical relationship afterward to review medications, results, referrals, recovery, prevention, and what happens next.
Access without fragmentation
Telehealth can remove distance and scheduling barriers, but convenience should not require patients to start from zero with a different clinician every time they need care.
Responsibility for the next step

From Frontline Medicine to Alderon
Acute medicine shows why strong primary care matters.
Emergency and trauma care are essential after something has already gone wrong. They also provide a direct view of the downstream consequences of uncontrolled blood pressure, metabolic disease, medication problems, delayed screening, fragmented follow-up, and patients who have gone years without consistent primary care.
Alderon Medical is being created to work earlier in that timeline whenever possible—building a model intended to help patients maintain an ongoing relationship focused on prevention, treatment, monitoring, and continuity before every health concern becomes an acute-care problem.

Military & Prehospital Medicine
A clinical career that began before the hospital.
Shane Mass entered healthcare through emergency medical services and military medicine before progressing to graduate physician associate education and advanced clinical practice.
EMT-Basic & Paramedic Specialist
Before and during his time in the U.S. Navy, Shane Mass worked in prehospital medicine as an EMT-Basic and Paramedic Specialist. That experience involved assessing patients outside traditional hospital environments, responding to acute illness and injury, making time-sensitive decisions, and understanding the realities patients face before they ever reach a clinic or emergency department.
U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman
Shane Mass served in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. His military medical experience reinforced an early foundation in direct patient care, readiness, teamwork, responsibility, and providing care in settings where adaptability and sound clinical judgment matter.
Why Primary Care
Prevention is most valuable before disease changes a patient’s life.
Primary care creates time to act earlier.
Many chronic diseases develop gradually. High blood pressure, obesity, abnormal cholesterol, diabetes risk, sleep disorders, tobacco exposure, and other risk factors may exist long before a patient feels seriously ill.
Shane Mass founded Alderon Medical around the belief that accessible longitudinal care can create more opportunities to identify those risks, explain them clearly, intervene when appropriate, and keep track of what happens next once the practice is operational.
Primary care cannot prevent every illness. Alderon’s model is being built to provide a consistent clinical home for prevention, medications, chronic conditions, new symptoms, referrals, hospital follow-up, and changing health priorities over time.
Building the Practice
The clinical experience is being designed before enrollment opens.
Public interest first. Secure clinical onboarding later.
During pre-launch, Alderon’s public website and Azure interest workflow are limited to nonclinical lead information. They are not patient intake and should not be used to submit protected health information.
When enrollment opens, Alderon plans to use Elation’s secure patient-facing systems for clinical onboarding, patient communication, and the medical record.
